B i o g r a p h y

Natasha Wells is a native of Dallas, Texas and alumni of the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She graduated from Mountain View Community College with an Associate of Arts & Sciences degree and from Dallas Baptist University with a Bachelor's of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education. She completed her graduate studies from Southern Methodist University with a Masters of Music degree in Vocal Performance graduated with a second Master's degree in Liberal Arts from Southern Methodist University. She is a trained classical, musical theater, jazz, and gospel artist whose music career has extended throughout the United States.

Miss Wells has received numerous awards and honors during her music career, which includes acceptance into Opera Works Summer Intensive Program in Los Angeles, California, the Leontyne Price Vocal Arts Competition, the Meadows Foundation Scholarship from Southern Methodist University and a semi-finalist at the Dallas Opera Guild Development Grant Competition. Miss Wells was also a member of the Dallas Opera Chorus for two seasons and did her debut with Lyric Stage as a cast member in Kismet and in "Pleasures and Palaces". She was also cast in Lyric Stage musical production, "Desert Song" making her stage debut . She has just sung in the World Premiere musical play, Slave Letters with Mark Brian- Sonna Productions in February at the Stone Cottage Theater in Addison, Texas. She also performed in a Concert Series entitled, Hymns of Praise and Heartache, Songs of Hope presented by Mount Vernon Music in Mount Vernon, Texas.

Her operatic roles include, Ma Moss (Tenderland), Dame Quickly (Falstaff), Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), and Mrs. Olsen (Street Scene). Natasha has performed in concert and in a master class for the renowned mezzo-soprano, Barbara Conrad and a private master class with the renowned soprano, Cynthia Haymon who starred as "Liu" in the Dallas Opera's production of "Turandot".  She had the great privilege and opportunity to sing in honor of the renowned American mezzo-soprano, Denyce Graves, sponsored by the Association of Professional Black Musicians in Denton, Texas.

Miss Wells was featured as a guest soloist with the Friendship West Baptist Church Singles Choir at the Third Avenue Baptist Church in San Francisco. The Honorable Willie Brown, mayor of San Francisco was in attendance to mark 150 years of celebration of the historic church.

Miss Wells made her solo debut as a guest soloist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in the acclaimed oratorio, “A Child of Our Time,” under the tutelage of Maestro Andrew Litton. She has been a contract singer with Christ the King Catholic Church. In honor of the dedication and edification of newly constructed Friendship West Baptist Church, Miss Wells was the featured solo artist for their benefit concert performing various arias and spirituals at the African American Museum. She was also a guest soloist at the 40th anniversary of her accompanist, Sue Mitz, Professor of Music at Dallas Baptist University.

Miss Wells was a two-year recipient of the prestigious award of “Who's Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges" and a member of Alpha Chi National Honor Society, and Alpha Sigma Omega Honor Society. She has auditioned with distinguished young artist programs and competitions such as the Houston Ebony Opera, the Anchorage Apprentice Program and was also a Metropolitan Opera National Council finalist where she was chosen as one of eight finalists out of seventy-two singers for the Southwest Region and the only finalist in the Dallas metroplex. 

Miss Wells is a faithful and upstanding member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas where Pastor Chris Wesley is Senior Pastor. She is involved in the Women of Worship music ministry. She also has been a volunteer with the Visiting Nurse Association of Dallas, Texas for the past six years in the Eldercare Program.

She is also devoted to the elders of her community in that she has been singing for the Texas Winds Musical Outreach program where her group the “Gospel Pops” goes into the local senior centers and nursing homes to bring classical, gospel and Broadway tunes.

She recently performed, in the World Premiere stage play, "Rage" at the Wyly Studio Theater in Dallas.  She has also most recently performed in "Abyssinia" with Lyric Stage at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas, Texas.  She also made her NY Theater Critic Review with Front Row performing her stage debut with Rover Dramawerks, World Premiere of "Shouting Down A Quiet Life". She also performed in the World Premiere "The Confessions of the Slave Nat Turner" returning with MBS Productions.  She also did her stage debut touring with the stage play, "Watch Night: A Freedom's Eve Story" written and produced by former NFL Dallas Cowboys player Greg Ellis and T.K. Henderson.  She performed as a singer soloist as well as an understudy for the acting roles of Yolanda and Mrs. Jones played by the renowned actress Irma P. Hall.  She had the privilege of singing in honor of the legendary actress, Irma P. Hall for the Desoto Chapter of the National Council for Negro Professional Women and  was also nominated in 2017 for an Irma P. Hall Award for best featured actress in the play, "Slave Letters".  She made her stage debut with Bishop Arts Theatre in the gospel musical, "Black Nativity".  She was nominated for a 2019 Column Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role in "Black Nativity".

Miss Wells credits her success through God's blessings and riches and the support of her mother, family and church.
